Production Planner

 


Working to ensure that design and manufacturing information is correctly entered and maintained in the ERP system and to release jobs to the factory for manufacture to meet customer demands and agreed service levels.

Educated to A Level (Or Equivalent)

Responsibilities:

Planning Production

  • Using the data from MRP, creating works orders using Epicor.
  • Satisfying sales order demand with works orders.
  • Investigate errors, quick decision making and problem solving.
  • Identify and resolve part supply and internal errors that result in schedule discrepancies.
  • Ensure timely, full and accurate communication with all relevant departments on any factors which may impact on delivery dates, commitments to customers, quality, etc..
  • Knowledge of Kanban Stock Replenishments System.

Entering Engineering Change Notes (ECNs)

  • Ability to communicate with R&D about queries regarding materials, etc..
    • Create new Parts in Epicor when notified to do so. Ensure that all required part set-up information, such as Part Class, Group, Warehouse and Bins, is entered.
  • Update Part records and MoMs to reflect changes in design or the manufacturing process. Maintain Part revisions.
  • Provide support with the introduction of new products, to ensure operational planning requirements are completed on time. Ability to plan ‘phase in, phase out’ of new products and up issued revisions.

Creating Work Plans

  • Create production plan with schedule workflow for each department according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
    • Check job suggestions created by the ERP System for shortages. Liaise with the Purchasing Department to determine when shortages will be cleared or if any other action is required. Once a job is clear of shortages, process it and release it to the factory. Determine and maintain the due date for jobs so that the Sales Department is provided with accurate, up to date information to relay to customers.
  • Confer with the Production Team on the production schedule to establish sequence and lead time of manufactured products to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts, maintaining safety stock levels and customer orders.
  • Effective sales forecasting and job quantity planning to make efficient quantities and reduce change over times, by grouping similar product families, etc..

  • Experience of work scheduling / planning.
  • Co-ordinating, collating, analysing and reporting on data collected from various sources.
  • Previous experience of production and assembly techniques.
