Across our global operations, we are actively building a culture that invests in our employees’ wellbeing; embraces inclusion; provides a healthy work/life balance and supports employees’ involvement within their communities.

We do this by:

  • Promoting equal opportunity in our recruitment, selection and employment practices
  • Encouraging our employees to volunteer and support a range of charitable activities
  • Providing a range of flexible working arrangements
  • Growing our future by investing in apprenticeships, training and graduate programs

Working Together for Local Charities

Every year the Company pledges to organise fundraising activities and raise money for three worthy causes, nominated by our staff. From cake sales and quizzes to raffles and fancy dress days – staff at Elcometer love to get involved.

Each November employees are given the opportunity to nominate a charity close to their hearts to benefit from the money collected in Elcometer’s annual fundraising activities. Selected charities are then picked at random from the nominations received. Small, local charities that find it more difficult to raise funds are most often nominated by the staff.

Michael Sellars, Managing Director at Elcometer says: “At Elcometer we are firm believers in giving back to the community. Each year the staff at Elcometer put considerable effort into organising and supporting a range of fundraising activities for our chosen charities. Thanks to their support and generosity, three charities receive considerable donations each Christmas.”

The chosen charities for 2019 were Emmaus Mossley, who offer support to people who have experienced homelessness; Fairy Bricks, who give toys to sick children in hospices and hospitals and Reuben’s Retreat, for children and young people who have a life-threatening illness and their families. The total amount raised by staff was £980, which the Company kindly agreed to round up to £1500, meaning that each charity received a donation of £500.

Stacey Kirkpatrick, Senior Fundraiser & Corporate Contact at Ruben’s Retreat said: “Many thanks for your generous donation and all your fundraising efforts. This donation could cover the cost of a break for two families who have suffered loss or are facing an uncertain future”.

Although on a smaller scale than usual, due to the pandemic, in 2020 staff raised funds for Finding Rainbows, an organisation that offers support to anyone who has suffered the loss of a baby or child and Millstream, a local animal shelter. The total amount raised by staff was £400, which the Company kindly agreed to round up to £900, meaning that both charities received a donation of £450.
