CNC Milling Setter/ Operator

Setting and operating Haas & DMG CNC Milling Machines. Production and inspection of precision components to standards and to drawing. Perform other duties and assignments as needed.

GCSE or higher in Maths and English.

Responsibilities:

General Duties

Preparation of materials for machining, deburring, cleaning of work area. Any other duties as required

CNC Milling Operations

  • Operation of a variety of CNC milling machines, 3 verticals, one horizontal with pallet pool and one 5 axis with robot loader, producing parts to drawing and within agreed specifications/tolerances
  • Produces machined parts by loading specified proved program, setting up workholding, tooling and datums, and operating CNC milling machines; maintaining quality and safety standards

Duties:

  • Produce components to an agreed schedule of work orders, to the machine parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Verifies settings by measuring sample work pieces; adhering to standards
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements detailed by production engineering, following manufacturer's instructions
  • Control the raw material stock

Health & Safety

  • Comply with company H&S procedures and legislation and safe systems of work
  • Ensure you work safely and maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Identify any hazard, make safe and report
  • Correct use and storage of PPE and RPE issued


About You: 

Experience

Essential

  • Working in a machine shop environment.
  • Use of 3/4 axis CNC Milling Machines.
  • Experience in mechanical assembly.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a disciplined ISO 9000 environment.
  • Experience of using a Renishaw probe would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working in an automated environment
  • CMM experience


Knowledge

Essential

  • Needs good working knowledge of Haas/FANUC controls (or ability to learn very quickly)
  • Interpreting drawings
  • Engineering changes
  • Health and Safety

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Heidenhain control and ability to program for this control would be an advantage
