Elcometer
1730 Car Wash Simulator
The car wash
simulator by Elcometer is used to characterise the resistance of
coatings against the action of automatic car washes. Meeting the
exacting specifications of Peugeot-Citroën, the Elcometer 1730 is
the ideal product for determining the resistance of automotive coatings
to the abrasion caused by either the brush fibres or dirty water.

Elcometer
1720 Abrasion, Scrubbing & Washability Tester
This robust
and easy to use Abrasion Tester is extremely flexible and is designed
to test the washability, brushability and abrasion resistance of
a wide range of materials, including paint, laquers, inks, coatings
and much much more. Unlike most washability testers, this unit is
easy to set up and is available as either a 2 or 4 station model
and can measure on flat or curved surfaces.

1720/5 Spongeability & Washability Tester
Similar to
the Elcometer 1720 Abrasion Tester, above, the Spongeability and
Wahability Tester by Elcometer has been designed to test the spongeability
and washability of wall coverings / wall papers and can be used
in accordance with EN233.

Taber
5750 Linear Abraser
This linear
abraser uses a free floating head to follow the contours of the
sample under test - making it an ideal choice for abrasion testing
of any curved surface.

Taber
5135 & Taber 5155 Rotary Abraser
The Taber®
Abraser is an industry standard used in the wear and durability
testing of ceramics, plastics, textiles, metals, leather, rubber
and painted, lacquered and electroplated surfaces. Accelerated
wear test procedures using the Taber® Abraser have been written
into many test specifications including ASTM, ISO, TAPPI and DIN
- as well as automotive manufacturing procedures around the world.

Taber®
710 Multi-Finger Scratch/Mar Tester
The instrument
includes a pneumatically driven, moveable sledge to which the test
sample is mounted. The sledge moves in a linear fashion, and is
operated by a control knob for one or multiple pass testing. An
electronic timer displays the rate of speed, which can be controlled
by reducing or increasing air pressure.

1700 Falling Sand Tester
The falling
sand test is perhaps the simplest method of testing abrasion. Standardised
sand (ottowa sand) is released and guided onto the test specimen.
The volume of sand required to obtain total erosion of a known coating
thickness indicates the abrasion resistance.
