IMO PSPC Compliance Coating Thickness Gauge ready now, out of the box

The IMO PSPC regulation for salt water ballast tanks comes into force with effect from 1st July 2008 for all ships in excess of 500 GRT. This regulation introduces a rigorous inspection regime which includes coating thickness and, in particular, the introduction of a new performance standard for Dry Film Thickness - the IMO 90/10 rule.

The measurement of a coating thickness on submerged substrates such as ships, oil rigs, pipelines, jetties etc., has always been a problem especially when it is not always possible to remove the structure from its watery surroundings. Historically, the only way to do this is with a mechanical gauge such as the Elcometer 211, vital to ensure the thickness of underwater coatings is adequate. With the recent launch of the Elcometer 456 range of waterproof probes, the solution is now at hand.
